A contrivance that turned Google Maps into 8-bit maps in real time, allowing users to use it like maps in an old-school role playing game for the Nintendo game console. Users traveled around the world searching for 8-bit landmarks and monsters. The promotion video, released on April Fools’ Day, depicted Google Maps 8-bit as the 1,051st Nintendo game cassette.
